The Scottish Fold Munchkin cat are easily identified by their folded ears (dominant-gene mutation). The Munchkin cat breed is the result of a natural occuring genetic mutation which caused the Scottish Fold Munchkin Cats to have unusually short legs.
A farmer named William Ross registered the earliest records of the Scottish Fold Munchkin Cats breed. He found a two kittens with folded ears and subsequently registered the breed with the GCCF (Governing Council of the Cat Fancy). From there, with the help of a geneticist, more and more of these Munchkin kittens were produced.
