Louvre Museum’s new Date for Mona Lisa

The Louvre Museum in Paris has officially changed their estimate for the creation date of the Mona Lisa. From the original date of 1503-06, experts from Louvre Museum had determined that the masterpiece of Leonardo da Vinci is more likely to have been created between the period of 1503-19. The re-dating of the Mona Lisa coincides with the Louvre’s exhibit of Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Virgin and Child With Saint Anne”. The Leonardo da Vinci exhibition opens is scheduled to run through June 25, 2012.

Louvre art experts have conducted study on the copy of Mona Lisa which is believed to be the work of Leonardo da Vinci’s student. The Louvre researchers came up with a new date of completion for the original Mona Lisa. The Mona Lisa copy was recently unveiled at the Prado Museum in Spain.
